Obituary of Richard Lee Chandler

Richard, who was known by many as Jake, was born in Charleston, West Virginia, to James and Pauline (Copen) Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pauline; his wife, Barbara Jean (Dowd); a daughter, Susanna; son, James: and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Rose. His survivors include his daughter, Polly Jo (Mike) Sittinger; his brother, Ivan Chandler (Jean); and his sister, Sharon Chandler Marchand (Ron), as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and stepchildren. Richard grew up in Skamania, Washington, attending Skamania Grade School and Stevenson High School. After school, he joined the Boiler Maker Union and worked on many construction sites. His later endeavors included owning a pallet business in Renton, Washington, a cab company in Hay Fork, California, and a tavern in Omak, Washington. He loved riding his Harley - until he was injured in a serious accident and could no longer ride. He was a great fan of the Seahawks and also enjoyed sturgeon fishing, and playing cribbage with his sister, Sharon. He loved spending time with his family, especially when they could go camping. He supported community causes by selling raffle tickets and playing Santa Claus to underprivileged children. A recent highlight in his life was the gathering of Christmas toys for children in the company of the motorcycle club, the Apple Dumpling Gang, of which he was an honorary member. He touched many lives in a positive way and was loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed. A "Celebration of Life" event will be held on June 11, 2016 from 2-6 pm at the White Center "Fraternal Order of Eagles" Aerie 2568, 10452 15th Ave SW, Seattle WA
