Obituary of Lila Sampson

Lila was born in Yakima, WA to Ross and Velma McHenry. She had seven siblings. Lila graduated from Morton High School in 1950. Lila moved to Tacoma where she met and married Robert Sampson in May 1953. They lived in Manitou and raised their five children. Lila worked at Western State Hospital for 36 years as an LPN and retired in 1992. "Sammy" was an avid gardener and loved to do crafts, she was well known for her holiday spirit and her joy of decorating. "Sammy" could cut-a-rug, she lived to dance, square, circle and ballroom. "Sammy" was always helping others in times of need. She will be deeply missed and always remembered. Lila' death was preceded by her husband Robert Sampson and son Rodney Sampson. She is survived by two daughters: Vikki Sampson and Valerie Sampson, two sons Robert Sampson and Rick Sampson, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rosary by Winny Strawn. Viewing Monday from 1:00 to rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Visitation Catholic Church.
