Obituary of Bethlehem Roumel

Bethlehem Roumel, daughter, sister, wife, and friend, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Beth was born in Turkey and later immigrated to Greece with her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother. She is survived by brother Paulos Kyprianidou and sister Evlanbia Vasilakou. She had a dream to attend medical school, but WWII and survival required her to work in the family textile business. At age 53, she met and married Bill Roumel of Tacoma and bravely moved with him to the United States. She made good friends and was actively involved at the Greek Orthodox Church. Beth enjoyed cooking and baking for others. Her generosity extended to many people; no one could leave her home without a gift of food or candy. She enjoyed long walks and car rides around WA. In spite of her efforts to adapt to the US, a part of her never left Greece. When her husband died in 2005, Beth began to decline. She lived at the Weatherly Inn for several years, and then spent her last months at "We Care Adult Family Home." We are grateful to Mary Lou and the staff at "We Care", as well as the staff of Franciscan Hospice. Beth's questions are all answered now, as she joins her family in heaven. Services will be held on Monday, December 8th at 11:00 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts to Franciscan Hospice or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements by Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home, 253-472-3353
