Obituary of Kathleen DePolo

James and Kathleen De Polo left us this week to join the Lord. Kathleen passed away January 15th after a brief illness. Her loving husband James joined her in heaven on January 17th after complications caused by heart disease. Kathleen was born on March 27, 1944 in Tacoma, WA. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Holy Angels High School in 1961. Kathy spent the majority of her life in the Seattle/Tacoma area working as an accountant and enjoying her hobbies of sewing, floral design with her sister, and working with computers. She was a member of the ABWA for many years. She was a devoted wife to her husband James and devoted mother to her daughters Michele and Cheryl. James was born on November 7, 1937 in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Stadium High School in 1955. After he completed school, he served in the Army Reserves. James and Kathleen were married on March 17, 1965 in Seattle, WA. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Astoria, OR where James became a commercial fisherman on the waters of the Pacific Coast. In 1971, they returned to the Tacoma area where James invested in rental properties and Kathleen continued her career in accounting. They are survived by Kathleen's mother, Patricia Arnold, her sister, Patty Schmitz, and numerous nieces and nephews. James is survived by his sister, Josephine Hendrickson and her children and grandchildren. They are loved and will be greatly missed by their daughters Michele White (husband Tony), Cheryl Hume (husband Forrest), and four grandchildren; Steven White, Megan, Jack and Natalie Hume. They touched the lives of more people than can be listed and had many close friends that they shared their love and lives with. Services will be January 22nd, 2009 at 11am at St. Patrick's Church. There will be a vigil on January 21st, 2009 at 7:00pm at Piper Morley Mellinger Funeral Home, 253-472-3353.
