Obituary of Arthur Perry Pickering

Arthur Perry Pickering was born August 18, 1957 in St. George, Utah to parents Ruth Sylvester and Anson Perry Pickering. He graduated from Enterprise High School in Enterprise, UT in 1975, then served a two year LDS mission to Taiwan. His love for big machines, especially Caterpillar, led him to earn a technical degree in Diesel Mechanics from Utah Valley Technical College. He worked as a diesel mechanic and oil system analyst at N.C. Machinery in Tukwilla, WA for 24 years. Art is known for his quick wit, easy sense of humor, and sneaky practical jokes. Kids at church knew him as "candy man" because he always carried a bag of candy with him that he would pass out to all of the little ones. He always had a story ready to tell, and will be remembered for his kind heart and generous nature. Though his body is at rest, his friends and family take comfort knowing that his spirit lives on and they will see him again. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and infant sister Sara Beth. He is survived by wife Sandra Pickering, children Shannon, Chris, Tim, Ryan, Katie, Jenny and Dana, sisters Eulail, Javotte and Martha, and grandchildren Nathan, Cooper, Stella, Aria, Auren and Heidi. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 4:00 pm at the Tacoma LDS Stake Center, 1102 S. Pearl St. Tacoma, WA 98465.
