Obituary of Joy R. Scornaienchi

Joy R. Scornaienchi Joy was born to Ernest and Ellen Gardner 12/13/1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. After a courageous fight with cancer, she died on 24 September, 2007. On November 1956, Joy came to Tacoma to visit her sister, Audrey Johns. On a blind date arranged through a mutual friend, she met her future husband, George; they married 2/8/58 Joy was a very talented lady. Her skill and knack for color and design can be seen through out her home and garden. Joy was a knowledgeable gardener, a gifted baker, a talented seamstress and a consummate homemaker. She also had a pleasing voice and sang often at St. Rita's Church as a cantor with the schola. Joy loved to attend many of George's ship reunions throughout the US, where she met and made friends with many shipmates and their wives. Joy leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, George, son Michael (Joyce), sister Audrey Johns, sister in-law Olive Scornaienchi and many nieces and nephews who dearly loved her. She will be missed. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday 9/27/07 at St. Rita's Catholic Church; Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Friday 9/28/07, 10:30 AM at St. Rita's Church, 1403 S. Ainsworth, Tacoma.
